Daron Smith was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon to Imperial College Academic Health Sciences Centre in January 2007, and subsequently to the stone/endourology unit at University College Hospital, London in March 2009. His surgical practice encompasses the comprehensive management of urolithiasis, and the endoluminal management of upper tract urothelial carcinoma and ureteric obstruction (including extrinsic malignancy, deep infiltrating endometriosis and ureteric trauma).
He is an active teacher and trainer, and the past consulting editor (stone disease) for the BJUI from January 2014-2020 and the founding deputy editor for JELEU (Journal of Endoluminal Endourology – a term he coined in 2015 for the type of surgery described above). Having been appointed to the committee in 2013, and serving as Secretary from 2015-2017 and Vice-Chairman from 2017-2019, Daron is the current chair of the BAUS Section of Endourology.
